Our September 2026 Away Day
Muircroft’s Board and Senior Leadership Team recently came together for our annual Away Day to look ahead and discuss how we can continue providing quality homes and services for current and future tenants.
The day gave us the opportunity to focus on Muircroft’s long-term ambitions while confirming our immediate priorities: remaining financially strong, investing in our homes, preparing for future challenges and protecting the qualities that make Muircroft special.
A clear message emerged throughout the discussions: we need to build on Muircroft’s strengths while planning responsibly for the future.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to keeping Muircroft independent, locally focused and dedicated to providing a personal service to tenants.

Key priorities agreed at the Away Day include:
- Strengthening the management of risks across our services and operations.
- Developing a new communications and tenant engagement plan.
- Exploring opportunities for sustainable growth that support our values and long-term future.
The Board discussed how Muircroft can help meet current and future housing need while recognising the challenges that smaller housing associations face when developing new homes. Discussions explored a range of possibilities that align with Muircroft’s values, including local partnerships, extensions to existing schemes and other opportunities to increase housing options within our communities.
Listening to Tenants
Tenants remained at the heart of every discussion. Board Members highlighted the importance of listening to tenants and making sure information is clear, accessible and easy to understand. We want to strengthen how we communicate and engage, using both printed and digital channels, so tenants, applicants and partners can stay informed and have opportunities to share their views.
Planning for the Future
The Away Day also examined some of the longer-term challenges facing housing providers, including communal heating and hot water systems, improving energy efficiency and planning for major repairs and improvements to our homes. The actions agreed at the Away Day will be monitored regularly by the Board to ensure progress is made and commitments are delivered.

Above all, the day reaffirmed Muircroft’s commitment to its tenants. Our vision is of a strong, independent and sustainable organisation that provides excellent housing, listens to tenants and continues investing in homes and communities for future generations.
A message from our Chairman, David Butler:
“Our discussions focused on one simple question: how do we ensure Muircroft continues to thrive for current and future tenants? The Board is committed to protecting what tenants value most while planning responsibly for the future. We look forward to continuing that conversation with tenants as our plans develop.”
