Our Rules and Governance

Muircroft Housing Association Limited is registered as a Community Benefit Society and operates under a formal set of rules that define how the organisation is governed, how decisions are made, and how we fulfil our charitable purpose. These rules were adopted in 2015 and are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

The rules set out:

  • Our purpose – to provide and manage housing and support services for older people and others in need, for the benefit of the community.
  • Our non-profit status – any surplus generated by Muircroft is reinvested into our homes, services, and future improvements rather than distributed for private profit.
  • How Muircroft is governed – including the responsibilities of the Board, Chair, Chief Executive, and Company Secretary.
  • Membership arrangements – how shareholders are admitted, their rights and responsibilities, and how Annual General Meetings are conducted.
  • Financial oversight – including requirements for budgeting, accounting, auditing, borrowing, and financial control.
  • Transparency and accountability – ensuring Muircroft operates with integrity, good governance, and in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

These rules help ensure that Muircroft remains focused on its charitable objectives, operates in the best interests of residents and the wider community, and maintains high standards of governance and accountability.
