Thank you to all of our tenants that completed our communal lounge survey.
Thank you to everyone who completed our communal lounge survey. The feedback has helped us understand how the lounges at Muir House and Priest Croft are currently used, what tenants value, and what could make the spaces more welcoming and useful in the future.
Communal Lounge Survey July 2026
Around 4 in 10 tenants responded to the survey. This gives us useful feedback and clear themes, but we know not everyone replied. We will therefore continue to speak with tenants before any significant decisions are made about our lounges.
| You said | We heard | We will |
| The lounges are important and many tenants already use them. | The lounges are valued community spaces and should continue to be available for tenants to meet, relax and take part in activities. | Keep the lounges as tenant spaces and look at how they can be made more comfortable, welcoming and flexible. |
| The lounges could feel warmer, brighter and less formal. | Décor, furniture, lighting and layout affect whether tenants feel comfortable using the lounge. | Explore options to refresh décor, improve furnishings and create smaller, more sociable seating areas. |
| Some tenants would like more comfortable seating, sofas or smaller chair circles. | The current layout may not always encourage informal conversation or relaxed use. | Look at different seating layouts and involve tenants in choosing practical furniture options. |
| You would like coffee mornings, social drop-ins and seasonal events. | There is clear interest in informal and low-commitment activities that bring tenants together. | Trial a small programme of coffee mornings, social drop-ins and seasonal events, subject to practical arrangements. |
| Refreshments would encourage more use of the lounge, especially at Priest Croft. | Tea, coffee and café-style use could help make the lounges feel more welcoming and sociable. | Consider safe and practical options for providing refreshments, including how this could be managed and funded day to day. |
| Tenants want to be involved before final decisions are made. | Future changes will work best if tenants help shape them. | Share design ideas, colour options and furniture choices with tenants before significant expenditure is committed. |
What happens next?
- We will share the survey findings with tenants at both schemes.
- We will ask tenants for further views before final decisions are made.
- We will explore practical options for décor, seating, refreshments and activities.
- Some small changes may be possible within existing resources, but other changes could have cost, budget or service charge implications.
- Where changes may be rechargeable through service charges, or where statutory consultation is required, we will consult tenants before works or services are committed.
- We will provide a further update once the next steps have been agreed.
We will keep tenants updated. The survey is the start of the conversation, not the end. We want any future changes to reflect what tenants have told us and to help create spaces that are welcoming, comfortable and well used.
